Gunman kills 3 and injures 5 in shooting at Michigan State University

Michigan: A gunman shot and killed three people and injured five others at Michigan State University on Monday night before shooting himself dead, according to police.

The suspect was not associated with the university and was found dead nearby.

The motive for the attack is unclear, and police believe there was only one shooter.

Two victims were killed at Berkey Hall and another at the student union building.

Both buildings are open to the public during business hours.

The university canceled all in-person and virtual classes and sporting events for at least 48 hours, and counseling resources are being provided.

This incident is the latest in a series of mass shootings in the U.S. that have claimed dozens of lives in 2023.
