A woman who had been beaten while being held captive was freed by law enforcement in Georgia.
Around 10.20 P.M. on Tuesday, deputies from the Richmond County Sheriff’s office discovered the victim in her home in the 2200 block of Nellie Drive.
Her accused kidnappers had portrayed her as a sex slave.
Several people were detained, and one admitted to deputies that the woman was going to “be my sex slave” and that he would “pimp her out till she pays it up” because she had reportedly “taken a bunch of stuff.”
“Upon entering the room, he observed an unknown light brown-skinned female naked, beaten severely, and currently locked in a dog cage.”
Shawna Powell, 32, Anjelika Figueroa, 29, DeMichael Dawson, 24, Savannah Piazzi,18, and Dawson Weston, 19, were arrested in connection with the crime.
They have been charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, aggravated assault, and weapon possession during a crime.
The woman was first noticed by the former resident of the home where she was found.
They returned to the mobile home to retrieve some items and were asked for help by the victim.
The individual contacted deputies, who then rescued the woman.
Authorities said the victim appeared to be “injured and emotionally distraught” and refused to approach law enforcement.
Eventually, deputies managed to get closer to her and noticed a swollen and bruised eye.
